Marissa Sterling is the only suspect in the murders of her husband and two children. Marissa is hospitalized in a mental hospital where Dr. Graham tries to help her remember not only what happened to her family but also who she is and what her past holds even as he deals with his own grief. Detective Azalea Kavanaugh isn’t as convinced of Marissa’s guilt as her partner, her chief or the prosecuting attorney. Bryce Thorne, a reporter who covered the case, also has questions about not only Marissa’s guilt but also her past. The two join forces to investigate and begin to uncover a multitude of secrets from Marissa’s past leading to motives for the murders for both Marissa and others in her past as well as a string of deaths and other strange coincidences that appear to have followed Marissa.
