Sample Paragraph

Storm clouds look viciously down upon the earth while  Karadina stood in front of the window wondering what to do about Doug.  The past year had been the most difficult of her life.  She was terrified of his accepting his apology and trying again.  She had gotten used to being alone.  She did not like it, but she was used to it.  She intended to spend the rest of her life that way.  It made things so much easier.  No worries about that other person, what he was doing, where he was at, when would she see him again?  She knew she could never go through all that again.  She was sure that eventually she would grow to enjoy being alone.  After all, if she was alone, there wouldn’t be anyone to disappoint her ever again.  She was tired of playing second priority to everything else in a man’s life.  She felt tears on her face as the rain began to pound against the window pane.  It used to be one of her favorite sounds.  Now it was just a reminder of how alone she was.  Not that it really mattered.  She had been alone for years now.  The only differences in this alone and the alone she was used to was that this alone was forever, and this alone was by her choice.  It was not being dictated to her.  There was no going back now.  She felt she had pushed everyone who had ever cared about her out of her life.  She knew that wasn’t true, but at the moment that’s how she felt.  She wiped the tears from her face and stood up, saying, aloud, to herself, “Buck up, Karadina!  You got what you asked for."
