Mona rediscovers her painting talent after the death of her ailing mother. Sample paragraph: Mona stood staring out at the blue waves crashing into white lines on themselves, thinking, dreaming. She did a lot of that these days. Once she had come to the edge. She had almost made her dreams come true. She had been so close. She sighed trying to erase the dullness of her day from her mind. The dullness of her whole life. Her eyes ached from staring at the computer screen all day. God, what a life. She only had a few minutes left. She had to get back to the house before her mother’s nurse left for the day. The poor woman now had to go home and take care of her husband and four children after having spent all day caring for Mona’s mother. She glanced back at the ocean noticing the angry storm clouds coming toward her as she started her slow walk back to the house. She would bring Mama out here for a few minutes. Mama had always enjoyed watching a storm build over the ocean. |
